As a mom to three boys, I truly wouldn’t trade my life for anything. Muddy shoes, loud laughter, endless sports equipment — bring it on.

But when the chance came to design a nursery inspired by a precious little girl? I leaned in. Hard. And I loved every second of it.

For this design concept, I started with a strong foundation — always. The bright white horizontal shiplap sets the tone: classic, cozy, and just interesting enough. It’s the kind of first layer that makes a room feel homey and collected without boxing you into a theme she’ll outgrow in two years.

Layered. Timeless. Forgiving. (Because… life with kids.)

Drapery First (Because You Know I Will)

For the windows, I went back to my tried-and-true favorite: Two Pages pinch pleat drapes (linked via Amazon). For this look, I chose a soft linen tone similar to Pink Lemonade, which gives that subtle, happy pop against the bright trim and wallpaper.

I paired them with a French return curtain rod from Amazon — not just for looks, but for function. French returns help block out more light, which matters during middle-of-the-day naps. Because if your baby is anything like mine, one rogue sunbeam convinces them they’re missing a full-blown party — and they will not stand for it.

The Sweet Details

Above the crib, I layered artwork inspired by delicate floral prints similar to the Etsy pieces I linked. Framed in simple Amazon frames with oversized mats (one of my favorite tricks), the artwork instantly feels more elevated.

Bigger mats = more custom, gallery-style energy — without the custom framing invoice.

The finishing touches — pillows, blankets, mirror, and lamp sourced from Amazon — bring in warmth and softness. Nurseries need texture. They need layers. They need to feel cozy and loved from day one.

Smart Foundation Pieces

For the crib, I styled this concept with a classic spindle silhouette similar to the affordable option I linked from Amazon. It gives you that timeless nursery look without pushing into splurge territory.

The dresser I sourced from Wayfair reflects the same traditional, slightly elevated feel. It’s practical, neutral, and versatile enough to grow with her — exactly what you want in a foundational piece.

And then there’s the glider.

I linked a ruffled option from Pottery Barn that mirrors the romantic softness styled here. And listen. The ruffles. COME ON with the ruffles.

Worth it.

This nursery design feels feminine without being fussy. Classic without feeling stiff. Soft, layered, and full of heart — exactly how I imagine a little girl’s first room should feel.

And yes… designing for a girl was every bit as fun as I hoped it would be 💗
