A Few Things You Might Be Wondering
-
Made on Millhaven Lane is a virtual room design library filled with complete design ideas for every room in the home.
Each space is imagined from top to bottom—from furniture and lighting to rugs, drapery, artwork, and accessories—so you can see how an entire room comes together. Then I source similar pieces to help you recreate the look in your own home.
The goal is simple: plenty of beautiful inspiration, with a practical way to actually use it.
-
The rooms in the Design Library are AI-generated design concepts created for inspiration.
I use AI as a design tool to bring complete room ideas to life without being limited by a particular home, client project, retailer, or current inventory. It gives me the freedom to explore more rooms, layouts, color palettes, and decorating ideas than I otherwise could—and continually add new inspiration to the library.
Each design is developed with a clear direction behind it, drawing on my background in interior decorating and my love of classic, livable interiors.
-
Not necessarily. The design comes first.
Rather than building a room around whatever products happen to be available from one retailer, I start by creating the room as a complete design. Once it feels right, I search real retailers for similar pieces that can help recreate the look.
I consider things like style, shape, scale, color, finish, material, and overall feeling when sourcing each piece. Sometimes the match is very close; other times it may vary slightly while still creating the same effect within the room.
Unless specifically noted otherwise, linked products should be considered thoughtfully sourced similar pieces rather than exact matches.
-
Because inspiration shouldn't have to begin with what's currently in stock.
Designing the room first gives me the freedom to focus on what makes the space work—the proportions, furniture shapes, color palette, lighting, texture, and overall balance—without letting a particular retailer's inventory dictate the design.
Then I can do the legwork of finding real pieces that help bring that idea home.
It also means the design itself can remain useful long after an individual product sells out or is discontinued. Products come and go. A good room idea lasts much longer.
-
It happens! Online inventory changes constantly, which is another reason the rooms aren't designed around one exact collection of products.
If something is no longer available, use the original design as your guide. Look for a similar shape, scale, color, material, or finish rather than feeling like you need an exact duplicate.
I also update and source new alternatives as the library evolves, so there may be another similar option available.
-
Definitely not.
Think of each room as a design plan and source of inspiration—not a shopping list.
Use the furniture you already own, borrow the ideas you love, swap colors or finishes to work with your home, and shop only for the pieces that make sense for your space and budget.
Sometimes one new lamp, rug, piece of artwork, or pillow is all you need to take an idea from a room and make it work in your own home.
