An entryway is a pretty good place to have a little fun.
Oversized blue hydrangeas give this one plenty of personality, while crisp white millwork and natural woven texture keep everything feeling light and classic. There really isn’t much furniture in the space, but with wallpaper like this, there doesn’t need to be.
A small room can sometimes handle a bigger pattern than you think.
I love wallpaper in an entryway because you get all the impact without having to commit to staring at it for eight hours a day.

A lamp in an entryway is one of those small things that makes a surprisingly big difference, especially in the evening. Turn on a table lamp instead of the overhead light and suddenly the front hall feels warm and welcoming rather than like everyone needs to locate their shoes immediately.

You don’t need to cover the console in accessories.
A lamp, a few favorite objects, and one substantial arrangement are plenty. Here, the blue hydrangeas repeat the flowers on the walls without introducing another color or pattern.

Fresh hydrangeas would obviously be beautiful here, but I’m also a very big supporter of flowers that look good on Tuesday because you arranged them on Saturday six months ago.
The trick with faux hydrangeas is using enough stems to make the arrangement feel full and keeping the vessel fairly simple. The flowers already have plenty of volume, so they really don’t need much help.
That restraint is what makes the whole entry work. The wallpaper gets to be the statement, while the woven console, natural chandelier, simple lamp, and white millwork give it some breathing room.
It feels cheerful when you walk through the door without feeling like the entryway is trying quite so hard to impress you.
Which is pretty much exactly how I want a house to say hello.
