I don't think I'll ever get tired of blue and white.
Especially when it's paired with beautiful natural textures and a little architectural detail. For this dining room, I wanted something that felt classic and Southern without being overly formal. The vaulted ceilings, white vertical shiplap, and oversized windows give the room such a bright, open feeling, while the woven furniture, pale blue rug, and brass accents bring in some warmth. It's a room that feels special enough for holidays and dinner parties but still comfortable enough for everyday family dinners.
The chandelier might be my favorite part of the room.
I love how much texture a light fixture can bring to a space, especially when everything else is fairly light and neutral. I've linked the Savannah Chandelier from Serena & Lily as a similar find with that beautiful natural finish and substantial shape. It makes a statement without feeling too formal.
For the dining table, I love the contrast of a weathered white finish against the darker wood floors. I've linked the Charleston Extendable Dining Table from Birch Lane for a similar look. The turned details give it a little more character than a basic rectangular table, and an extendable option is always nice when you need extra seating.
The natural rattan chairs are another favorite. I've linked the Balboa Rattan Side Chairs from Serena & Lily, which have those beautiful woven backs, white upholstered seats, and brass-capped legs. They bring in just enough warmth to keep all the white from feeling too stark.
And underneath everything, a pale blue patterned rug adds some softness without competing with the furniture. I've linked the Saber Oriental Handwoven Rug from Wayfair as a similar option. I especially love using a patterned rug in a dining room because it's a little more forgiving than a solid color.
A pretty sideboard can make the whole room feel more finished.
I love having a substantial piece of furniture in a dining room beyond just the table and chairs. It gives you somewhere to store serving pieces, linens, and all those things you don't necessarily want sitting out.
I've linked the Mia Six-Door Console set up from Ballard Designs as a similar option. The white finish and decorative circular hardware are such pretty details, and I love how it works with the traditional architecture without feeling too heavy.
Above it, a simple gold arched mirror adds a little warmth and helps reflect all that natural light. I've linked the Claritha Mirror from Wayfair for a similar look.
For styling, I would keep things fairly simple. A blue-and-white porcelain lamp, a few favorite coffee table books, and a brass tray are really all you need. I've linked a similar hand-stamped porcelain lamp from Wayfair, along with the Life Styled and Architectural Digest at 100 books from Target. The round brass tray is another easy way to bring in a warm finish without adding too much clutter.
The architectural details really make this room.
The vaulted ceiling and vertical shiplap are beautiful on their own, but I think the windows are what make the space feel especially inviting. I love the look of traditional white casement windows with divided panes, particularly when they're surrounded by substantial trim.
And of course, I had to add full-length linen draperies. I've linked the Liz Linen Pleated Drapery Panels from TWOPAGES as a similar option, paired with the Ellis Adjustable Drapery Rod from Rejuvenation. Hanging draperies high and wide is one of my favorite ways to make a room feel more finished while keeping the windows as open as possible.
The dark walnut floors are another detail I love here. They add some depth to all the white and pale blue, and they make the natural rattan furniture stand out beautifully.
What I love most about this dining room is how the different materials work together. The woven chandelier and chairs keep things relaxed, the brass accents add a little polish, and the blue-and-white accessories bring in that classic Southern feel. It's elegant without being fussy, and I think that's exactly what makes a dining room feel welcoming.
